Job Requirements

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

  1. Cumulative service period of nine (9) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which must have been in the grade of ICT Assistant I or in a comparable position;
  2. Diploma in any of the following fields: Computer Science, Information Communications Technology, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Networking, Software Engineering, Business Information Technology, Data Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical, Electronic Engineering, Cyber Security or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  3. Professional Certificates in any of the following:-Database Management (Oracle, SQL, DB2 or its equivalent), Information Security (CISSP, Security+, CISA, CISM or its equivalent), Service Support Operations (ITIL, COBIT or its equivalent), Network Administration (CCNA,HCNA, N+, HP or its equivalent), System Administration (MCSE, Linux, Unix or its equivalent), or Software Development (Java, Visual Studio, Python, Oracle, or its equivalent), Data Center and Cloud management (VMware, Certified Data Center Management Professional or its equivalent);
  4. shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Job Description

Duties and responsibilities;

  1. Implementing ICT policies, strategies, regulations, standards and guidelines;
  2. Generating and compiling operational reports pertaining to ICT matters;
  3. Supervising the installation, configuration and updating of ICT equipment and software applications.

 

  1. Assessing performance of ICT infrastructure, software applications and make recommendations;
  2. Setting up and maintaining information and ICT Infrastructure security;
  3. Scheduling preventive measures, repairing and maintaining ICT equipment and software applications;
  4. Providing end user support and capacity building;
  5. Analyzing user needs to inform development of systems specifications;
  6. Administering of ICT systems, databases, Applications, networks and communication systems;
  7. Implementing information security management procedures;
  8. Undertaking risk assessment of ICT assets and related processes;
  9. Implementing backup solutions and other business continuity strategies; and
  10. Documenting and reporting database related problems and their root causes.
