Job Requirements

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  1. Served in the grade of Assistant Fisheries Officer I for a minimum of three (3) years;
  2. Diploma in either Fisheries Management, Natural Resource Management or an equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
  3. Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution; and
  4. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

   i.          Undertaking statistical data analysis and compilation;

  ii.          Disseminating fisheries research information; monitoring, control and surveillance of the fisheries resources;

iii.          Promoting fish marketing and value addition;

 iv.          Arranging on farm trials, field days and exchange visits;

  v.          Training staff and fishers in spawning, rearing, and harvesting methods and use of related equipment;

 vi.          Training staff on feed formulation and production;

vii.          Observing fish ponds and fish to detect diseases and promoting fish marketing and value addition.

viii.          Monitoring water quality for signs of pollution;

ix.          Carrying out frame surveys;

  x.          Undertaking catch assessment; carrying out fisheries related licensing activities; and enforcing fisheries regulations;

xi.          Inspecting fish handling facilities at fish landing sites, markets and farms; and undertaking frame survey.
